The Night of Celebration featuring Arborlawn's Garland organ, organist Jerry Westenkuehler, and the Fort Worth Symphony hosted a full house tonight, and the Arborlawn family was glad to extend hospitality to our Fort Worth friends. In fact, some people flew in for the evening's concert.
Under the baton of Associate Conductor Andres Franco, the Fort Worth Symphony played beautifully with a range of dynamic control and artistry that was quite remarkable. We are grateful for the partnership with this wonderful orchestra of musicians, and I am grateful to Amy Adkins for her work in making this possible. This concert was a gift from the FWSO to Arborlawn as we anticipate gifting the use of the sanctuary to them for their KinderConcerts this spring and the April 11 performance of the Mozart Requiem. This performance gives us an opportunity to return the gift by buying tickets to this wonderful performance of this beloved work. Tickets are available through the FWSO box office at 817.665.6000. Call today to buy your tickets.
I could not be more proud of my colleague, Jerry Westenkuehler, for his outstanding work in the Guilmant and Poulenc works tonight. His preparation has been masterful, and his performance tonight was senstive and right on target. Jerry is greatly loved by the people of Arborlawn, and I count it a privilege to partner with Jerry in ministry.
I am also grateful to our Worship Arts Administrator, Karen Gossett, and her wonderful staff for execution of a flawless house management tonight.
It is now 11:20 p.m.., and organist Todd Wilson is practicing in the sanctuary. Please don't miss his concert tomorrow night (Monday, October 1) at 7:00 p.m. Todd is one of our nation's most gifted organists, and you will be delighted with his work.
We are off to a delightful second season for Cocnerts at Arborlawn! We hope to see you soon. . .even Monday night!
Tom Stoker, Minister of Worship Arts
