My Song in the Night - October 21, 2012 - 7:00 p.m.

Chancel Choir and The Orchestra at Arborlawn

Arborlawn’s 130-voice Chancel Choir joins with The Orchestra at Arborlawn, Organist Jerry Westenkuehler, and Pianist Karen Gossett in an evening of favorite anthems and short works. This concert will be recorded live for a compact disc release in time for Christmas. The music includes Dan Forrest's In Paradisum, Derek Hakes' Fairest Lord Jesus. Mendelssohn' s He Watching Over Israel, C. L. Bass's The Understanding of the Lord, Mack Wilberg's Come, Thou Fount of Ev'ry Blessing  and My Song in the Night, Daniel Gawtrhop's Sing Me to Heaven, Kyle T. Jones' Declare Thy Maker's Praise, John Rutter's O Be Joyful, Beethoven's Hallelujah from the "Mount of Olives," among others. There is no admission charge.

A Festival of Advent - December 9, 2012 - 11:00 a.m.

The Chancel Choir and The Orchestra at Arborlawn

A seasonal favorite each year! The Chancel Choir and The Orchestra at Arborlawn perform the carols of John Rutter in a wonderful service to celebrate the season.  Music for the Festival of Advent includes the first movement of Rutter’s Gloria; Shepherd’s Pipe Carol; Candlelight Carol; Infant Holy, Infant Lowly; O Come, All Ye Faithful; God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen; Angels’ Carol; The Holly and the Ivy; O Little Town of Bethlehem; and Nativity Carol Senior Minister Ben Disney will be preaching. Join us for this wonderful service of worship!  

 

 

A Festival of Hymns - February 10, 2013 - 7:00 p.m.

The Festival Choir and Jerry Westenkuehler, Organist

The 250+ voice Festival Choir joins with Arborlawn organist Dr. Jerry Westenkuehler in a service of favorite hymns. Westenkuehler is published by Alfred and Hal Leonard and is known throughout the United States for his organ improvisation.  This should be an inspirational evening of wonderful congregational singing.  There is no admission charge.

A Salute to America - July 4, 2013 - 7:00 p.m.

The Festival Choir and Jerry Westenkuehler, Organist

Join us for this annual Fort Worth tradition.  Concerts at Arborlawn presents the 200-voice Festival Chorus in the 25th Annual “Salute to America” concert on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in Arborlawn’s sanctuary. The entertaining evening includes singing of all military anthems with veterans and families standing for their respective branch of the service, as well as audience participation in singing God Bless AmericaYou’re a Grand Old FlagMy Country ‘Tis of TheeAmerica the Beautiful, and other favorites.  The choir will be singing favorites to include Wilhousky’s Battle Hymn of the RepublicThis is My SongLet There Be Peace on Earth, and others. Under the direction of Arborlawn’s minister of worship arts Tom Stoker, the choir will be accompanied by Dr. Jerry Westenkuehler, organist, on Arborlawn’s 107-rank Dan Garland Organ.  The choir is open to any who wants to sing that evening.  Singers are asked to wear their favorite red, white, and blue, and come to rehearse from 4-6 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Singers will be served a light dinner, and the choir will sing for the 7:00 p.m. concert. There is no admission charge for the concert.  The public is invited to attend.
